Introduction and Call for papers

 

Procedure Papers of original, previously unpublished work in the area of the undergraduate curriculum, expanded access, the promotion of rigor, adult learning theory, inspired teaching, and linkage between business and the University are invited for the electronic journal, The Journal of Excellence in Higher Education ( JOEHE). JOEHE is a refereed journal for scholarly notes and papers dealing with any area of adult higher education research.

The Journal of Excellence in Higher Education has several advantages over existing paper media journals.

Advantages for authors include:

  • Rapid publication.
  • World-wide distribution of their work.
  • Accepted papers will be published on the World Wide Web in enhanced HTML.

Advantages for readers:

  • World-wide access through the internet
  • No charge for the journal
  • Papers may include links to related information sites

THEME AND SCOPE

The Journal of Excellence in Higher Education is a refereed journal published by University of Phoenix’s programs for Higher Education. The theme of the journal is the field of Adult Higher Education with an emphasis on research conducted using a systems approach in examinations of complexity in real world systems. Relevant topical areas include[but are not limited to]: methodology, conceptual perspectives, technology forecasts, strategic studies, and alternative Adult Higher Education scenarios. Application papers are also encouraged.

CATEGORIES OF CONTRIBUTION

The following types of articles are acceptable [See Instructions for Authors for specific details]:

  • Original Papers
  • Book Reviews

The journal's refereeing process has the same rigor as any conventional journal and only material of the highest quality will be published.

Instructions to Authors

GENERAL

Papers that fall within the theme and scope of the journal will be considered for publication in JOEHE The Journal of Excellence in Higher Education. Each paper should be original work that has not been published and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. Papers are considered under the following categories:

Original Papers should be original pieces of work which make a significant contribution to the field. [max. 6000 words]. Ideas should be innovative suggestions for the possible application of adult higher education principles and theory with a concatenation to real world problems or concerns. The refereeing process will have the same rigor regardless the category of the submission. All papers will receive at least three referee reports.

SUBMISSION

Papers must be submitted by regular mail to the editor at the address:

Papers should be in one or more of the prescribed formats on 3.5" discs and must be accompanied by 5 printed copies of the paper which are for anonymous review. All identifying information about the authors must be removed from the materials.

Each paper will be sent to two or more referees along with a standardized letter which includes the journals guidelines for referees. Alterations and corrections will be processed according to the usual protocols for conventional journals. Once accepted, papers will be immediately published in the current volume of the journal.

To be considered, each paper must be accompanied by the following essential information [format is provided at the end of this document]:

  • Names and affiliations of all authors
  • Contact addresses for all authors [including e-mail]
  • A formal declaration of copyright, originality and ownership
  • Multi-author papers must include a statement affirming that all authors agree to have their names associated with the publication
  • A list of appropriate keywords
  • A list of all URL links referenced in the paper
  • A description of any software or other related materials the authors wish included with the paper.

JOURNAL FORMAT

Language -The language of the journal is English.

Textual Material - The preferred standard for formatting is APA Style Manual. However, the final form of the textual material of the journal will be Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) in order to provide access to the journal through the World Wide Web. HTML does not presently provide adequate facilities for formatting to the APA standard. Hopefully enhancements will be added to gradually allow formatting to scientific standards. Authors should maintain their work in a commercial format and if possible submit both the commercial word processor format and the HTML of their paper. The following is a list of formats the institute uses and are acceptable for submission:
